Uncle Willie was a man that was full of life and loved to have a good time. We had a conversation one day and he told me to get up here and say he lived, he got drunk, he died (hit the podium fast twice) and go sit down. He started laughing and said ooooo they gone be so mad. Well, I’m sorry to tell you Uncle Willie but I can’t do that. His life was so much more than that. He was what you would call a Renaissance Man. He was a school teacher, medical assistant, a counselor, and the list could go on. He had a talent that no one could deny because he had the singing voice of an angel. Well it is now time for our angel to take his place in heaven’s choir. Although he accomplished many achievements in life, he was a simple man. All he wanted was for his family to come together, have a good time, to love, and to be loved. He captured the hearts of us all with his catch phrases “HA YOU DOIN?”, “FA REAL?”, and my all-time favorite “OOOO I AM LIT HUNNIE!”. When you spent a day with Uncle Willie you were guaranteed a good laugh. After he took sick I prayed for my uncle day and night. I prayed for his boy to be healed, for him to become strong again, and come back home. Well, God answered my prayers because now his body is healed, he is strong again, and he is definitely at home. I find peace in knowing that he will no longer be in pain and will suffer no more. Uncle Willie wouldn’t want us to cry and be down. He would want us to celebrate his life and that’s why he had the personality that he did. Because when you think about him you can’t help but to laugh at the memories he left us with. So, when you are feeling down just look to the sky and know that the twinkling light you see is Uncle Willie letting you know that he’s alright. I love you Uncle Willie and I know you’re saying “I LOVE YOU TOO MAMA”. I just want to tell my family that Uncle Willie is in a better place. Don’t worry about him because he’s alright. Although we may be hurting God took Uncle Willie because he was ready and He’s giving the rest of us a chance to get right. So, go on Uncle Willie and take your rest. Although we love you God loves you best. I’m going to continue to smile through this trying time because if you haven’t heard. I have a new angel watching over me that goes by the name of Willie Kelly 1 Word.
